Tungsten Carbide Center Drill

Precision Centering | Extreme Durability | High Efficiency

Product Overview

Our Tungsten Carbide Center Drills are designed for CNC lathes, machining centers, and precision turning machines to create accurate center holes that guide subsequent drilling, turning, or tapping operations. Manufactured from ultra-fine grain tungsten carbide (YG6X / K10 / nano-grade), they deliver 5–10 times longer tool life than conventional HSS center drills, especially on difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steel, titanium alloys, and hardened steels.

Key Advantages

1. Superior Material, Lasting Sharpness

  • Tungsten carbide substrate with hardness up to HRA 91–93
  • Transverse rupture strength ≥ 2800 MPa – resists chipping
  • Excellent red hardness – performs well in dry or MQL conditions

2. High Accuracy, True Running

  • Runout ≤ 0.005 mm for perfect centering symmetry
  • Special edge honing reduces vibration during cutting
  • CNC ground – dimensional tolerance ±0.01 mm

3. Boost Productivity, Cut Costs

  • Cutting speed up to 60–120 m/min (depending on material)
  • Achieve 3,000–8,000 center holes per tool (vs. 500–1,000 for HSS)
  • Fewer tool changes → higher machine uptime

4. Wide Range, Ready to Ship

  • Standard diameters: 0.5 / 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.0 / 3.0 / 4.0 / 5.0 / 6.0 mm
  • Customizable overall length and neck length
  • Optional TiAlN / TiSiN coating – extend tool life by 30–50% on hardened materials

    Typical Applications

    IndustryWorkpiece Materials
    Mold & DieTool steel, Cr12MoV, SKD11
    Automotive40Cr, 45# steel, ductile iron
    AerospaceTitanium alloys, Inconel 718, superalloys
Medical DevicesStainless steel 304/316L, CoCrMo alloy
3C ElectronicsAluminum alloy, magnesium alloy, copper alloy

Quick Application Guide

  • Holding – Use collet chuck or hydraulic holder. Clamping length ≥ 4× diameter for rigidity.
  • Speed – Recommended Vc = 40–80 m/min (lower for stainless steel, higher for aluminum).
  • Feed – 0.01–0.04 mm/rev. Start conservative and adjust upward.
  • Coolant – Emulsion or oil mist preferred. For dry cutting, retract tool after each hole to clear chips.
  • Pre‑drilling – For materials > HRC 40, consider a smaller center drill first.
