Product Overview
VNMG-K3 is a 35° diamond negative-rake carbide turning insert exclusively developed for cast iron machining, covering grey cast iron, ductile iron and vermicular cast iron for semi-finishing to roughing. The widened large-capacity K3 chip breaker is optimized for broken cast iron chips, ensuring stable chip evacuation without accumulation. The reinforced thickened edge delivers outstanding impact and wear resistance, adapting to harsh conditions such as rough skin, inclusions and light interruption. Equipped with two cast iron-specific CVD coated grades BP3205 and BP3215, it precisely matches precision semi-finishing and heavy-duty roughing respectively. It supports multi-operation turning including OD, ID, face and profile machining, suitable for both dry and wet cutting, serving as a stable mainstream insert for mass cast iron component production.
K3 Chip-breaker Features
- Dedicated groove for semi-finishing to roughing of all cast iron types
- Wide large-capacity groove optimizes evacuation of broken cast iron chips without clogging
- Reinforced thickened edge enhances rigidity, chipping resistance and rough skin machining performance
- Optimized groove angle provides moderate cutting resistance, balancing efficiency and surface stability
Grade Introduction
BP3205
- Professional grade for high-precision cast iron semi-finishing
- Dense multi-layer CVD composite coating with ultra-smooth surface and excellent wear resistance
- Superior high-temperature oxidation and thermal wear resistance for long-term continuous cutting
- Prioritizes high surface finish and low abrasion for precision semi-finishing and small-stock finishing
BP3215
- Main universal grade for heavy-duty cast iron semi-finishing and roughing
- High-toughness ultra-fine grain substrate with thickened heat-resistant coating for enhanced impact and chipping resistance
- Stable performance against cast iron rough skin, hard spots and light intermittent impacts
- Ideal for large-stock roughing and heavy-load mass production with universal dry & wet cutting compatibility
Key Advantages
- Cast Iron Specialized Chip Control: Optimized wide K3 groove perfectly handles broken cast iron chips, eliminating chip accumulation and workpiece scratching for flat and smooth cutting surfaces.
- Excellent Toughness for Harsh Conditions: Reinforced edge structure effectively copes with cast iron rough skin and hard spots, minimizing chipping and breakage in tough machining scenarios.
- Dual-grade Precise Matching: BP3205 for high-precision semi-finishing with superior surface quality; BP3215 for heavy-duty roughing with strong impact resistance, fully covering all cast iron machining demands.
- Extended Mass Production Life: Cast iron-specific heat-resistant and wear-resistant CVD coating resists abrasive wear effectively, greatly prolonging tool life in batch production.
Application
