Product Overview

VNMG-S3 is a 35° diamond negative-rake carbide turning insert optimized for semi-finishing to roughing of hard-to-machine materials such as titanium alloys, superalloys and nickel-based alloys. The upgraded large-rake low-resistance groove significantly reduces cutting load, effectively restraining work-hardening, vibration and surface scratching during difficult material machining. The widened smooth chip groove ensures stable and controllable chip evacuation without tangling or clogging. Equipped with BP4215 premium PSiX-based nanocomposite coating, it delivers excellent high-temperature resistance, oxidation resistance and anti-adhesion performance. Ideal for continuous precision machining of aerospace and medical precision parts, supporting OD, ID, face and profile turning, serving as a cost-effective reliable insert for mass production of hard-to-machine components.

S3 Chip-breaker Features

  • Dedicated groove for semi-finishing to roughing of titanium, superalloy and hard-to-machine alloys
  • Ultra-large rake sharp edge minimizes cutting resistance and relieves work-hardening & thermal accumulation
  • Smooth widened chip groove ensures regular chip formation and stable high-speed chip evacuation
  • Precision edge honing balances sharpness and structural strength for uniform wear and chipping resistance

Grade Introduction

BP4215

  • Premium universal grade for semi-finishing to roughing of hard-to-machine alloys
  • Advanced multi-layer PSiX-based nanocomposite coating with superior hardness and high-temperature oxidation resistance
  • Ultra-low friction surface effectively eliminates built-up edge and material adhesion on difficult alloys
  • Sub-micron grain substrate provides outstanding toughness for long-term stable continuous precision cutting

Key Advantages

  • Low-force Cutting & Anti-vibration: Large-rake lightweight cutting design solves common defects of hard-to-machine materials including work-hardening, vibration and surface scratching, ensuring high-precision machining quality.
  • Stable Chip Control for High-speed Machining: Optimized curved chip groove guarantees smooth chip flow, avoiding chip tangling and frequent shutdown cleaning in mass production.
  • High-temperature & Anti-stick Performance: PSiX nano coating withstands high cutting temperature and resists oxidation & adhesion, maintaining consistent high surface finish in long-time machining.
  • Cost-effective Precision Machining: Covers both precision semi-finishing and efficient roughing, reducing tool inventory and production cost for hard-to-machine material batch processing.

Application

  • Workpiece Materials: Titanium alloy, superalloy, nickel-based alloy and other high-hardness hard-to-machine alloys
  • Machining Range: High-precision semi-finishing, general roughing
  • Machining Operations: OD turning, ID boring, face turning, profile turning
  • Cutting Conditions: Stable continuous turning, dry & wet cutting available for precision mass production; not suitable for heavy heavy-interrupted impact cutting

Selection Tips

BP4215 is optimized for hard-to-machine materials. It is the preferred choice for continuous semi-finishing and roughing of titanium, superalloy and nickel-based alloys, focusing on low cutting force, high surface finish and long-term stability. Avoid heavy-stock and strong-interrupted cutting conditions.
