Product Introduction

WNMG-M1 is an 80° hexagon negative-type carbide turning insert. The M1 geometry is specially designed for stainless steel semi-finishing, paired with two professional stainless steel grades: BP2215 and BP2225. The 90° approach angle design effectively avoids machining interference, making it suitable for semi-finishing of stainless steel and heat-resistant alloys. It can be used for external turning, facing, stepped turning and profiling, delivering stable cutting performance for stainless steel tubes, slender shafts, thin-wall parts and workpieces with unstable clamping, effectively suppressing work hardening and built-up edge.

M1 Chip-breaker Features

  • Specialized geometry for stainless steel finishing
  • Special rake angle design reduces cutting force and suppresses work hardening
  • Optimized chip breaking structure ensures stable chip formation, preventing chip tangling and workpiece scratching
  • 80° hexagon insert with 90° approach angle for stepped and profiling machining, interference-free
  • Suitable for stainless steel tubes, slender shafts, thin-wall parts and workpieces with unstable clamping

Grade Introduction

BP2215

  • Professional grade for stainless steel finishing & semi-finishing
  • High-hardness substrate paired with wear-resistant coating, excellent crater wear resistance
  • TiAlN-based composite coating, high temperature and oxidation resistance, suitable for high-speed stainless steel cutting
  • Ideal for continuous stainless steel machining and conventional semi-finishing conditions, ensuring high surface finish

BP2225

  • Universal grade for stainless steel semi-finishing & roughing
  • High-toughness substrate paired with strong coating, excellent impact and chipping resistance
  • Composite coating provides high temperature resistance and anti-adhesion performance, effectively suppressing built-up edge and work hardening
  • Compatible with continuous, light and medium interrupted turning conditions with strong versatility

Key Advantages

  1. M1 specialized geometry with low cutting force design, reducing work hardening and vibration risk in stainless steel machining
  2. 90° approach angle design adapts to stepped shaft and profiling machining, effectively avoiding tool interference
  3. Dual-grade precise coverage: BP2215 focuses on continuous finishing, BP2225 covers interrupted and semi-finishing machining
  4. Specialized coating suppresses built-up edge and adhesive wear, improving surface quality and tool life for stainless steel machining
  5. Capable of multiple turning operations including external turning, facing, stepped turning and profiling, with strong versatility

Applications

  • Workpiece Materials: Austenitic stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, heat-resistant alloys
  • Machining Operations: Semi-finishing, light roughing
  • Typical Workpieces: Stainless steel tubes, valves, flanges, slender shafts, thin-wall parts
  • Cutting Conditions: Continuous cutting, conventional light interrupted cutting, both dry and wet cutting available

Selection Tips

  • For high-speed continuous stainless steel finishing with high surface quality requirements, BP2215 is the preferred choice
  • For semi-finishing with light to medium interrupted cutting conditions, BP2225 is recommended
